A plaque honoring popular Santa Ramona resident Jade Vertilo Aura was unveiled as the climax of the Bikers & Babes Party held in the Boiler Room last Saturday. The plaque, dedicating the VIP lounge in the Boiler Room to Jade’s memory was unveiled by owner of the Boiler Room and her former business partner, Joseph Styles, together with her friend Natalie Baker. Jade passed in May and Saturday's party was held in her memory. Santa Ramona residents both male and female, came dressed in leathers to honor her memory.

Though it should be said that, in the case of many women, more flesh than leather was on show. The entertainment, provided by DJ Kittara, was mainly rock music but there was also some Irish and country music. Auld Lang Syne was played during the unveiling. And when we say rock, we mean the entire range. Some of the rock music was classic. People danced away to Elvis singing Jailhouse Rock as well as to the Elvis tribute song Black Velvet. Women, as always, led the way in the dancing. So what is it with men that they are hesitant about strutting their stuff? But the bar did roaring business, And after a while even the men started to dance. This was how Jade would have liked to have been remembered.

(This article has been edited to clarify that Joseph Styles was Jade Aura's business partner, not Natalie Baker.)
