On the evening of Feb 28th. SRSD Deputies were dispatched to a Robbery in Progress at the Coastal Shipping Charity Auction.
Deputies arrived to find one female suffering from gun shot wounds and an active shooter on scene. And others with guns out. They spent sometime, trying to gain control of and secure the scene and make it safe, with most people not complying with their orders.
One of the deputies then spotted the suspect, a female in a clown mask as she attempted to flee out of a side entrance. The Deputy went in pursuit, leaving the other inside to get control of the incident in there. Whilst pursuing he ordered the suspect to drop her gun. She failed to comply. The SRSD Deputy continued to pursue and she fired a shot at him. He then returned fire, one of the shots hitting her in the shoulder. Back up arrived and they made plans to tackle the female, ordering her again to get on the ground, she failed to comply again and fled onto the beach.
The Deputies saw her flee then heard a gun shot as they went around the corner of the building in pursuit and saw her laying on the dock, with a GWS to her head.
The Deputies who had earlier called for an Ambulance to attended to the original victim, administered emergency aid until EMTS were able to get to the woman.
The Deputies on scene were all wearing a body cameras.
The Deputies involved in the shooting were all experience and seasoned members of the department. No names are being released at this time.
The Deputy who fired shots was put under an Internal Affairs Investigation with SRV Court as per normal procedure in these situations and was on restricted duties, while the investigation took place. The Deputy was cleared of all wrong doing. No further information will be released by the Santa Ramona Sheriff's Department at this time.
