A former police officer turned musician and strip club manager says he's got safety on the mind as he eyes the mayor's chair.
Lee Ryeowook Kang-sin joined the race for Mayor of Santa Ramona Thursday, becoming the first candidate to file nomination papers.
In a media release, Kang-sin says he plans to "work closely with the municipal and government personnel and make Santa Ramona a more prosperous and safe community many of us have come to call home."
The South Korea-born 32-year-old, who grew up in Southern California, is a former Santa Ramona police officer who has also served in law enforcement in the municipalities of Lafourche and Hathian, and a former Hathian mayoral candidate. After leaving policing to pursue his artistic interests, he became a professional musician and currently works as assistant manager of Alley Cats, an exotic dance club in Santa Ramona.
Kang-sin volunteers at local homeless shelters and cited his work helping the homeless more broadly.
